GCAS Has Successful Review By Peers

[Silver Spring, MD, November 13, 2011] The General Conference Auditing Service (GCAS) announced today the completion of a peer review of its auditing practice for the North America Area. For the fifth consecutive time, GCAS has been recognized as adhering to the quality standards established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

GCAS has designed a system of quality control to ensure that it’s services meet the highest professional standards. Though not required, GCAS voluntarily contracts an independent accounting firm every three years to measure its practices in North America against professional standards within the public accounting industry.

The peer review, conducted by the accounting firm of Johnson Lambert & Co, made the independent assessment of GCAS’ quality control policies and procedures. It took into consideration its actions ensuring that qualified individuals, whom are properly trained and supervised, are hired, while advancing others and providing them with necessary technical resources. They also inspected the GCAS’ administrative files and records. A copy of the report from Johnson Lambert & Co is available upon request.

The AICPA is the national professional organization of CPAs with more than 300,000 members in public practice, industry, government and education. AICPA members are committed to the highest standards of quality, independence and ethics in their practice. In its continuing efforts to serve the public interest, the organization sets audit standards, provides continuing professional education, and prepares the Uniform CPA Examination.

GCAS was organized by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1977 to perform structurally independent financial audits, review of trust operations, and tests of policy compliance for more than 2,500 denominational organizations worldwide. With a team of approximately 200 qualified professionals operating from offices in 40 countries, GCAS is positioned to deliver audits of the highest quality.
